Hospice-Supportive Care

Velora’s hospice waiver allows residents who are receiving hospice services to remain in our community rather than transferring to a hospital or skilled nursing facility. This means your loved one can spend their final days in the comfortable, familiar environment they know, surrounded by the caregivers and friends they trust.

Velora works in partnership with licensed hospice agencies who provide the specialized medical services including pain management, nursing visits, social work, chaplaincy, and bereavement support. Our role is to continue providing the daily care, comfort, and emotional support your loved one needs while hospice professionals manage the clinical aspects.

Hospice care is typically appropriate when a physician certifies that a patient has a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less. The focus shifts from curative treatment to comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Our care team can help families understand when this transition may be beneficial.

We provide flexible visitation policies, family meeting rooms, spiritual support, grief counseling referrals, and ongoing communication about your loved one’s comfort and care. Our staff receives specialized training in end-of-life support to ensure both residents and families feel held during this difficult time.
